Sound Baths at Peony Libre: Rest, Release and Reconnect

Maybe you get to the end of the day and you’re exhausted, but the moment you go to bed, you can’t switch off. Your body is tired, yet your mind is still going through everything that happened, everything you need to do, everything that might happen tomorrow.

You can feel the tension in your shoulders, your jaw, your whole body. You try to rest, but you still feel restless. And you start wondering, when am I actually going to feel rested?

Or maybe life is okay. There is nothing particularly difficult happening right now. You simply want something more. A different way of looking after yourself, a deeper connection with your body, or a chance to take your spiritual practice further.

You don’t have to wait until everything feels too much.

A sound bath gives you time to lie down, get comfortable and let yourself receive. Nobody needs anything from you for a little while. You don’t have to hold everything together. All you have to do is relax and allow yourself to bathe in the sound.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a journey through sound. You lie down comfortably while I play instruments around you, filling the space with different sounds and vibrations. There is no water involved. You are bathing yourself in sound.

I use a gong, monochord, crystal singing bowls, Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, Koshi chimes and shakers, alongside my voice.

Some sounds are soft, some are deeper, and some build in intensity. You might notice sensations moving through your body, drift into a dreamlike state, or simply enjoy the feeling of finally lying still.

You don’t need to know how to meditate. You don’t need to empty your mind. There is nothing you have to learn before coming.

What can a sound bath help you with?

Sound baths support relaxation and give you space to reconnect with yourself. If you’ve been feeling tired, tense, overwhelmed or disconnected, this is time to stop and give yourself some attention.

Spiritually, I guide these sessions as a healing journey, working with sound, silence and voice for energetic cleansing, chakra balancing and grounding.

Maybe there is something you’ve been holding onto. An emotion you haven’t given yourself time to feel. Something that feels heavy. You can bring that intention into the session without having to tell everyone your story.

Or you can come with no intention at all. Just a willingness to receive.

This is space to let go, connect with your intuition and listen to what comes up within you. Sometimes that feels emotional. Sometimes it feels like clarity. Sometimes you simply have a deep rest, and that is exactly what you needed.

What happens in my 90-minute sound bath?

If you’ve booked an hour-and-a-half session with me, this is my classic sound bath. We have time to settle in, enjoy the instruments, rest in silence and return without rushing.

First, get comfortable

I provide the beds. Bring your blanket, pillow and eye mask so you can get cosy and stay warm.

Before we begin, tell me if there is anything I need to know about your comfort or wellbeing. You can speak to me privately; you don’t have to share it with the group.

Then, 40–50 minutes of instruments

I’ll play the instruments for around 40–50 minutes, taking you through different layers of sound.

You don’t have to follow every note or concentrate throughout. Your mind might wander. You might drift off. You might feel emotional or notice something happening in your body.

There is nothing you need to perform. Just allow yourself to receive.

After the sound, 10 minutes of silence

When the instruments finish, we stay in silence for around 10 minutes.

This silence is part of the healing journey. It gives you space to settle, release, let go and relax. We don’t jump straight up and carry on with the day. We give the experience time and space.

You don’t need to make anything happen during those minutes. Simply stay comfortable and rest.

Finally, voice, toning and grounding

After the silence, I’ll guide you with my voice. Starting with a high note, I move through the chakra sequence, using vocal toning with the intention of cleansing and balancing your energy.

Then I’ll guide you back to your body, back into the room and back to the here and now.

You have time to open your eyes, move and sit up when you’re ready.

What might you experience?

You might feel deeply relaxed. You might notice warmth, tingling, heaviness, lightness or different sensations moving through your body.

Memories or images may come to the surface. You might feel as though you’ve been taken on a journey, somewhere between being awake and dreaming. Emotions might come up, even when you weren’t expecting them.

Or you might simply lie there, listen and rest.

Every session can feel different. You don’t have to compare your experience with anyone else’s or analyse everything afterwards.

If anything feels uncomfortable or overwhelming, open your eyes, change position, sit up or ask me for support. You can step out if you need to. You do not have to push through discomfort.

What if you fall asleep?

Don’t worry. It is absolutely okay to fall asleep.

You don’t have to force yourself to stay awake, and you don’t have to fall asleep either. You haven’t missed the point because you drifted off.

Let yourself rest.

You don’t need to chant, move or join in with the toning. You can receive the whole session quietly, wrapped in your blanket.

How to prepare

Please bring:

  • A bottle of water.
  • A warm blanket.
  • A pillow.
  • An eye mask, if you like using one.

Wear comfortable, cosy clothes. Bring layers and warm socks if you tend to feel cold, because you will be lying still for a while.

I provide the beds.

Give yourself time to arrive and settle. Use the toilet before we begin and put your phone on silent.

Eat as you normally need to. You don’t need to fast or do anything special beforehand.

If lying flat is uncomfortable, or you have mobility or access needs, contact me before the session so we can discuss what you need.

Who is a sound bath for?

You can come because you’re tired. Because you’ve been carrying too much. Because you want to reconnect with yourself. Or simply because you’re curious and want to try something different.

You can come on your own or with someone you know. You don’t need experience with meditation or spiritual practices.

And you don’t need to arrive feeling calm. That is not an entry requirement.

When should you check before booking?

Please contact me first if you have:

  • Epilepsy or a history of seizures, especially if sound or music is a trigger.
  • Tinnitus, significant sound sensitivity, sound-triggered migraines or a hearing condition.
  • Panic, dissociation or distress during meditation or similar inward-focused experiences.
  • A medical condition, recent surgery or difficulty lying comfortably that may affect your participation.

If you’re pregnant or have an implanted medical device, let me know so we can discuss your individual needs and any relevant advice from your clinician. These are not automatic exclusions.

If sound can trigger seizures, speak to your epilepsy specialist before attending.

Please postpone your session if you’re acutely unwell or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you’re experiencing a mental health crisis, seek appropriate support before joining a group session.

Your comfort matters. If the sound feels too loud or anything becomes painful or distressing, tell me. You can adjust or stop at any time.

What is it like to attend a group session?

We share the space and the sound, but your journey is your own.

The person next to you might fall asleep while you feel emotional. Your friend might see images while you simply enjoy resting. You can both leave having received something different.

You don’t have to explain yourself, share your story or speak afterwards if you don’t want to.

If group spaces feel overwhelming or you need more individual support, email me before booking so we can talk about what would suit you.

After your sound bath

Take your time getting up. Sit up slowly, have some water and notice how you feel.

You might want a quiet evening, a gentle walk or a little time to write down what came up. You might feel sleepy, rested or emotional. Give yourself some space before rushing into the next thing.

Make sure you’re fully alert before driving. If you feel unsettled, speak to me before leaving. Persistent or concerning symptoms need appropriate medical advice.

Ready to give yourself this time?

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely exhausted to look after yourself.

Bring your blanket. Get comfortable. Allow yourself to receive.
